Festival Production in Atlanta
From Piedmont Park to Centennial Olympic Park, Rocket Productions delivers turnkey festival production for Atlanta's largest outdoor events. Multi-stage coordination, concert-grade audio, touring lighting, outdoor-rated LED video, and complete site infrastructure — all deployed from our 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Marietta, Georgia.
Why Atlanta Trusts Rocket
Atlanta's Festival Production Experts
Atlanta is one of the premier festival cities in the American Southeast. Every year, hundreds of thousands of attendees flock to events like Music Midtown, Shaky Knees, ONE Musicfest, Sweetwater 420 Fest, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival. These events demand production partners who understand the unique challenges of large-scale outdoor events in Georgia — unpredictable summer weather, sprawling park venues, multi-day build schedules, and the coordination required to keep multiple stages running simultaneously from gates-open to headliner closeout.
Rocket Productions has been embedded in Atlanta's festival scene for over fifteen years. Our 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Marietta houses one of the largest inventories of mobile staging, line array audio, touring lighting, and outdoor-rated LED video wall in the Southeast. When a festival calls for four stages, delay towers in a 600-foot crowd field, IMAG cameras on every performance space, and a generator farm distributing 2,000 amps across the site, we have the gear, the trucks, and the crew to deliver it. Our multi-stage coordination experience means your production manager gets a single point of contact for every technical department, eliminating the communication breakdowns that plague festivals relying on a patchwork of subcontractors.
Weather contingency planning is baked into every festival production plan we build for Atlanta clients. Georgia's climate brings afternoon thunderstorms in the summer months and unpredictable cold fronts in the fall. We spec wind-rated staging, pre-plan rapid teardown procedures for severe weather, and deploy real-time lightning detection monitoring on site. Our overnight build capability means we can absorb weather delays without pushing your festival opening. When conditions change, our crews adapt because they have done it hundreds of times at Piedmont Park, Centennial Olympic Park, and festival sites across Georgia and the Southeast.

How We Work
Festival Production Process
Site Survey & Permitting
We visit your festival venue to assess ground conditions, power access, load-in routes, and audience flow. We deliver detailed site plans and engineering documentation to support your permitting process with local authorities.
Production Design
Our team designs a comprehensive production plan covering stage placement, audio coverage maps with delay tower positioning, lighting plots for each stage, LED video wall sightlines, power distribution layouts, and backstage infrastructure.
Multi-Day Build
Festival builds typically begin 2 to 5 days before gates open. Our crews work in coordinated shifts to erect stages, fly audio and lighting, build LED walls, run power, and install barricade, signage, and backstage compounds simultaneously.
Festival Operations
During the event our production managers, audio engineers, lighting directors, and video operators are embedded at every stage. We manage changeovers, monitor weather, coordinate with security and medical teams, and keep the show running on schedule.
Strike & Restoration
After the final act, our strike crews work overnight to tear down all production elements, load trucks, and restore the venue to its original condition. We coordinate with park departments and venue management to meet restoration deadlines.

Outdoor Festival Realities
What it actually takes to produce a multi-day outdoor festival in Georgia's climate and regulatory environment.
Atlanta Permitting Process
City of Atlanta special event permits, Fulton County and DeKalb County requirements, fire marshal walk-throughs, and noise ordinance compliance all require detailed documentation. We provide PE-stamped site plans, electrical load calculations, and engineering certifications that satisfy every permitting authority. Our production managers know the specific requirements for Piedmont Park, Centennial Olympic Park, and every major public festival site in metro Atlanta.
Weather Mitigation Planning
Georgia's afternoon thunderstorm season runs from May through September — peak festival months. We deploy Thor Guard lightning detection systems on site, spec wind-rated staging certified to withstand gusts through the rated threshold, pre-plan rapid teardown procedures for severe weather, and protect all audio, lighting, and video gear with rain-rated covers. Our overnight build capability means weather delays during setup can be absorbed without pushing your festival opening.
Multi-Stage Power Distribution
A four-stage festival with production compounds, vendor villages, and backstage facilities can draw 3,000+ amps. We size generator farms based on actual load calculations, run cam-lock distribution to each stage and compound, deploy per-circuit load monitoring, and isolate clean power for audio from noisy lighting and video circuits. Ground-fault protection across wet outdoor conditions is standard on every festival we produce.
Site Infrastructure Build
Transforming an open field into a professional festival site requires temporary flooring, cable ramp deployment for pedestrian crossings, backstage compound construction with secured perimeters, artist hospitality tents, FOH tower positioning for audio and lighting control, and delay tower placement calculated for deep-field audio coverage. Our advance site surveys capture ground conditions, drainage patterns, and utility access points that inform every element of the infrastructure plan.
Festival Production FAQ
Common questions about producing festivals and large-scale outdoor events in Atlanta and the Southeast.
For large-scale Atlanta festivals, we recommend booking 6 to 12 months in advance. Multi-stage events at venues like Piedmont Park or Centennial Olympic Park require extensive permitting, site surveys, and coordination with city departments. Smaller single-stage community festivals can often be booked 3 to 4 months out, but earlier booking ensures priority access to our staging inventory and crew availability during peak festival season from April through October.
