Aflac is a supplemental insurance company headquartered in Columbus, Georgia. Employee Appreciation Week, branded EAW on screen alongside the Aflac Duck, is an internal event that celebrates the company's employees.
This Employee Appreciation Week event took place at the Columbus Civic Center, the city's arena and the home of the Columbus River Dragons hockey team and the Columbus Lions indoor football team. The arena floor was set with rows of chairs and a lounge set of white sofas, all facing a full stage with EAW and Aflac graphics on the LED wall.

Client Objectives
Employee Appreciation Week is Aflac's celebration of its own people, so the stage had to look and feel like Aflac. That meant EAW and Aflac branding front and center, the Aflac Duck on screen, and a room that read as an event rather than a hockey arena.

A Hockey Arena Turned Event Room
The Columbus Civic Center is built for hockey, indoor football, and concerts, with team banners in the rafters and a center-hung scoreboard over the floor. For Employee Appreciation Week the room had to read as an Aflac event, with the stage, screens, sound, and lighting built from the floor up in front of the lower bowl.

Strategic Production Approach
The production was planned in 3D before anything reached the arena. The renderings set the stage deck, the stepped LED wall, the overhead truss, and the left and right PA hangs, so the build on the Civic Center floor followed a layout that had already been worked out.
A Full Stage on the Arena Floor
The stage, LED wall, truss, and sound system were laid out in 3D renderings before load-in, and the build on the Civic Center floor followed that layout. A stepped LED wall spanned the back of the stage, line array hangs flew on either side, and two lines of truss with moving lights hung over the deck, with haze to show the beams in the open arena.

Venue & Logistics Considerations
The Columbus Civic Center opened in 1996 at 400 4th Street in Columbus and seats up to 9,109 for concerts. It is the home arena of the Columbus River Dragons of the Federal Prospects Hockey League and the Columbus Lions indoor football team, and both teams' banners hang above the floor.
Live Event Execution
Before doors, the LED wall ran EAW and Aflac graphics while staff set the arena floor. The moving lights on the overhead truss and the haze gave the stage its look, and the Aflac Duck appeared on the side panels on either side of the center screen.
An Aflac Stage in the Civic Center
The finished room put Aflac's branding at the center of the Columbus Civic Center. The stepped LED wall ran EAW and Aflac graphics across the back of the stage, flown line arrays and ground-stacked subwoofers covered the floor seating, and moving lights on two lines of truss lit the stage through haze.
